Xenios Blockchain Group joins the European Central Bank’s Appia working group. - The only company based in Greece!
Xenios Blockchain Group has been selected to join the Eurosystem’s Appia contact group.
The only one from Greece!
The European Central Bank announced today that 61 financial market stakeholders and public sector institutions were chosen for this close group.
The group will support the Eurosystem’s work programme on tokenisation — covering both Pontes and Appia — and begins work in September, taking over from the Pontes market contact group and the New Technologies for Wholesale Settlement Contact Group.
We wrote about Pontes and Appia here recently, when the IMF’s note on tokenisation singled them out as the clearest signal that European infrastructure is preparing for this properly. Being asked to contribute to that work is a different thing entirely.
What it means in practice: a seat in the room where the settlement of tokenised assets in central bank money is being worked out.
Not commentary from the outside — participation.
We take it as a responsibility rather than a credential. From day one our position has been that tokenisation earns its place in finance when it is regulated, secure, and boring in all the right ways. This is where that gets decided.
Thank you to the Eurosystem for the confidence, and congratulations to the other 60 institutions selected.
There’s work ahead.
