21 September - Frankfurt
The first working session of the Eurosystem's Appia contact group.
The timing turned out to be remarkable. The same morning, Pontes went live, connecting DLT platforms to settlement in central bank money, with thirteen institutions already onboarded.
And the ECB announced it will invest part of its own funds in tokenised securities, settled via Pontes, starting with euro area public sector and supranational debt.
The central bank isn't only building the rails; it intends to use them. That shifts the question for the market.
Infrastructure is no longer the missing piece.
Issuance is.
Appia's job is the longer horizon: a blueprint for how a tokenised financial ecosystem in Europe should work.
Our co-founder and CEO, Tasos Oureilidis, represented Xenios Blockchain Group at the table.
A good day to be in the room.
